Christiane Amanpour Interviews : Removal Of President Morsy Was Creative Democracy

Christiane Amanpour Interviews El-Mostapha Hegazy :Removal Of President Morsy Was Creative Democracy
By Mick Krever and Claire Calzonetti, CNN

The arrest in Egypt of the spiritual leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, Mohamed Badie, is“proper” and not just “vindictive,” an adviser to the interim Egyptian president said on Tuesday.
“I wouldn’t say just a victory from a vindictive standpoint, but from the standpoint that we are restoring law and order in a country which has its own sovereign rights,”ElMostafa Hegazy told CNN’s Hala Gorani, who is sitting in for Christiane Amanpour.

Hegazy, speaking from Cairo, said that the military ousting of Mohamed Morsy from the Egyptian presidency was necessary because Morsy “and his group, and his militias, has been terrorizing Egyptian, I would say at least emotionally.”
“Maybe it’s a kind of creative democracy that we haven’t seen,” Hegazy contended, “but because we didn’t have the process of impeaching the president through a parliament, we had to do it the way that we’ve done it.”

Egypt in recent days has been wracked by extreme violence. In the past week, about 900 people – civilians though also security personnel – have been killed.

But Hegazy said that the government’s response to pro-Morsy protests is “not at all” like the ruling style of Hosni Mubarak.

METRO REPORT: WOMAN ARRESTED FOR STABBING ANOTHER WOMAN IN THE FACE

An August 18th baby shower in Nebraska ended on a bloody note after two friends got into a physical altercation over a man that they both dated. Julia Bol, 28, and Rebecca Boss, 41, exchanged words in a heated argument about the nature of Julia’s relationship with the father of Rebecca’s child. The fight escalated when Julia took a six-inch stiletto shoe that Rebecca was holding in her hand hit her in the face with it. Reports say that Julia struck Rebecca so hard with the shoe that the heel punctured her cheek.

"The stiletto heel punctured the victim’s cheek and had to be pulled out of her face,” a police report on the incident read.

After hitting Rebecca with the shoe, Julia allegedly knocked her to the ground and proceeded to choke her. Following the incident, the victim was taken to Bryan West Medical Center where she was treated for neck bruises and a facial laceration. Julia was arrested on suspicion of strangulation and assault, and taken to the Lincoln County Jail. She, too, had to receive medical attention for a minor arm injury. She was scheduled to appear in court yesterday over the incident.

What a mess.

AFRICAN REPORT: POWER AFRICA INITIATIVE BY BARRACK OBAMA (A GROUND – BREAKING SUPPORT FOR AFRICA)

AFRICAN REPORT: POWER AFRICA INITIATIVE BY BARRACK OBAMA (A GROUND – BREAKING SUPPORT FOR AFRICA)
Addressing CEOs in Tanzania on 1 July, US President Barrack Obama said he saw Africa as the next major success story and with Power Africa he wanted the US to be part of that success.

The strategy is aimed at doubling access to electricity in Sub Saharan Africa. Thanking the African Development Bank for its partnership, as well as many companies that have stepped up with commitments, including some here,” President Obama said.
In his Address the AfDB president Donald Kaberuka said in Dar es Salaam, “We expect to allocate as much as US$3bn in the next five years... this will leverage at least four times more investments in the energy sector.”

Kaberuka noted that the bank’s interventions will include investment loans, reforms, advisory and guarantees. “Reforming the power sector is the key. The billions of dollars available for investment in the energy sector will translate into actual bulbs in people’s homes if state utilities run efficiently and effectively,” he added.

The main financial source for the bank’s assistance to the energy sector in the power initiative is the African Development Fund (ADF) and AfDB’s concessional window.

This indeed is a step in the right direction , we expect the “Power Africa Initiative” to bridge the gap of Abject Poverty in Africa

IM SO OVER YOU: WAYS TO HEAL AFTER AN HEARTBREAK

IM SO OVER YOU: WAYS TO HEAL AFTER AN HEARTBREAK
Heartbreak stories are like opinions and buttholes – everyone has one. And while it sucks to be going through emotional roller coasters, so much can be learned from relationships that don’t end in happily ever after. Here’s my advice on how to use that newly free time to treat yourself and get back right:

Travel

Nothing and I mean nothing – washes away the sadness of a failed relationship like traveling. You can go around the corner, down the street, or to another city, it doesn’t matter. A change of scenery (as well as drinking out of a coconut) will have you feeling brand-spanking-new. By travelling, you prepare yourself for a whole new experience gotten through a change of environment, you meet new people, you relax more and of course you begin your journey of personal healing

Be Self-Centered

I’ve found that a lot of people tend to be selfless in a relationship – and that’s good, but only up to a point. Constantly giving can be a drain on your time and your spirit, so now is the time to turn your attention to yourself. Focus on what you want out of life or a relationship, what makes you happy, and what you can do to be the best you that you can be. A bit of self-reflection can save you time, and heartbreak, in the future. By being self–centered , I  mean you should be more selfish in nature, treat yourself more , enjoy your money and be happy . Do away with that sacrificial part of yourself, till you are done being healed. The key here is be happy.

BIG CONGRATULATIONS TO SERENA WILLIAMS

BIG CONGRATULATIONS TO SERENA WILLIAMS
Serena Williams picked up her second French Open trophy on Saturday as she defeated second seed Maria Sharapova in the finals, 6-4, 6-4.

Williams holds on to her spot as the number one women’s tennis player in the world. At age 31, she’s also the oldest number one seed in the history of women’s tennis. As the winner, Williams walks away with a check for almost two million dollars.

In the first set, Sharapova won the first two games but Serena came back with a vengeance. Although she won in straight sets, this was not an easy match; Sharapova continued to give everything she had. In the end, however, Williams’ new-found dominance on clay proved to be too much for her.

I think this is the best time for serena williams to retire , a time when the ovation is loudest , wishing her many more successes.

We hope he recovers quickly, as he prepares to mark his 92nd Birthday.

Apparels & Accessories For Men : Simple but Stylish
This might come as news,
but your watch doesn't need to be encrusted with diamonds, or have sixteen dials, or tell you what the surf is like in Malaysia right now.

It needs to sync up with your lifestyle. In other words, are you throwing on your pinstripes and heading to the firm every morning, or are you hopping on a lift to head up the mountain? Once you answer that question, you'll have taken the most important step in deciding what kind of watch is right for you.

Special Feature : The Many Battles Of Chief D.S.P Alamieyeseigha
By Taiwo Ashaolu

This indeed are not the best of times for Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha as the US government went ahead to seize one of his many properties stashed in many countries abroad.

The Property a Rockville home belonging to former Bayelsa governor, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, was seized following a directive by  the U.S. Department of Justice.

A while ago , the frontline politician was in the eye of the storm , after he was granted presidential pardon by the President Goodluck Jonathan led administration, which was widely believed to be politicized.

Federal Department said they seized the home because the former governor bought the house using stolen state money. Alamieyeseigha was ordered to relinquish the $700,000 home on May 24, following an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement on the likelihood of a money laundering allegation on the politician.

So sad for Nigeria, when will this senseless looting come to an end?

A country where looters are celebrated, no wonder its citizens are so poor .

We want more of this increased colloboration between foreign agencies and Nigeria , in the country's quest to win the war against corruption

SMALL BUSINESS REVIEW : KEEPING A BUSINESS RELEVANT NOW AND IN FUTURE

SMALL BUSINESS REVIEW: KEEPING A BUSINESS RELEVANT NOW AND IN FUTURE

Things happen in the external business environment that are capable of making a business that was thriving to become irrelevant, sick and probably die in the near future. But, according to Augustine Edet, executive director, Nextzon Business Services Limited, an enterprise building firm, a strategic analysis of a business, which also involves thinking of one, two, five or more years into the future could help the business owners/managers prepare ahead of time and prevent these external factors from snuffing life out of their businesses.

Categorizing the problems and growth patterns of small businesses in a systematic way that is useful to entrepreneurs seems at first glance a hopeless task. Small businesses vary widely in size and capacity for growth. They are characterized by independence of action, differing organizational structures, and varied management styles.
Speakers at the event, include Adedotun Sulaiman, chairman of Accenture Nigeria and Nextzon, who will be the keynote speaker, and will address the topic “Institutionalisation - A process for sustainable growth and access to funds by SMEs,’’ while Akin Oyebode, head, SME banking, Stanbic IBTC Bank, will be presenting a paper titled “Why would a bank or financial institution be interested in providing funding support to my SME Business?”

In my submission, strategic planning, creative thinking and staying ahead of competitors will ensure that a small business continues to be a going concern 3-5 years down the line.

HOW YOUR CAREER IS RUINING YOUR LOVE LIFE

HOW YOUR CAREER IS RUINING YOUR LOVE LIFE
Are you a smart, attractive and successful career woman, but find yourself frustrated that you can’t get many dates? And those that you do get don’t seem to turn into second or third dates, much less a ring on your finger?

Well, you’re not alone and new research suggests that it’s not your fault you’re eating your meals alone in front of your laptop much more often than with a romantic partner. A recent study has found that when a woman’s income exceeds her partner’s (which it now does in record numbers), they are less likely to get married and if they are already married, they’re more likely to be unhappy and are more likely to get divorced.

So why does your high salary send him scurrying right back to his own laptop to view other profiles? There are several possible reasons:

He’s wired to be the provider and you’re taking that away from him: Ever since the dawn of humanity, men have been the providers for their family, whether he was clubbing a saber-tooth tiger or working the back fields on the family homestead. But suddenly, in the last 50 years or so — a flash of an instant in the timeline of humanity — life has dramatically changed with many women now doing the man’s share of the providing, but our evolutionary wiring cannot adapt that quickly. While modern men can consciously appreciate a strong, savvy career woman and all of the benefits that she brings to a relationship, that underlying wiring is ultimately going to win out. This results in men subconsciously being turned off by her without necessarily understanding why.

SPECIAL REPORT : ONE YEAR REMEMBRANCE AND LIP SERVICE TO EMERGENCY RESPONSE IN OUR LAND

SPECIAL REPORT : ONE YEAR REMEMBRANCE AND LIP SERVICE TO EMERGENCY RESPONSE IN OUR LAND

Indeed it was a black Sunday indeed when an ill – fated dana aircraft carrying 158 passengers enroute Abuja – Lagos crashed and killed all 158 passengers on board and 10 people on ground at the iju ishaga area in lagos state.

This is very sad going by the unfortunate circumstances that led to the death of many lives on board on this unfortunate day.
The sad state of the emergency response team is still a very big issue on the lips of many citizens of Nigeria.
The question is that how proactive is the government in the area of emergency response , one year after this unfortunate crash. Can the country manage disasters much better and reduce the casualty rates to its bearest minimum.

                                           Pix Exclusive To Thisday Nigeria

The people are watching , will the government continue to pay lip service to emergency response in the country.
In totality how precious is the life of an ordinary Nigeria in the hands of the government of the day.
For one whole year, they have struggled in vain. Families and friends of the departed in the ill-fated Dana flight 992 that crashed into the densely populated Iju-Ishaga neighbourhood of Lagos State have continued to cry out. Those who lost loved ones and valuable property to the Dana air crash of Sunday, June 3, 2012 have spent the last twelve months agonising and today they will remember again the sad memories of how their loved ones died in the ill-fated aircraft. But such memories will be more bitter this year as the compensation due to many of them have been denied them.

May their gentle souls continue to rest in perfect peace , amen.

METRO EXPRESS: LAGOS –IBADAN RAILWAY PROJECT SET TO BEGIN

The Federal Government assured Nigerians that the contractor handling the construction of Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge double rail track would soon commence actions on the projects. Minister of Transport, Senator Idris Umar who disclosed in Abuja while inaugurating the Board of Directors of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC, said the government is equally working to ensure that the rehabilitation of the Railway line from Port Harcourt to Maiduguri will be completed this year.

If the intervention funds for various capital projects in this government are judiciously used and accounted for, it will automatically lead to a chain reaction in the socio economic development of the Nigerian Economy. New Channels should be opened which will further promote trade and commerce in our country. A laudable project indeed.

SPECIAL FEATURE : CORPORATE CULTURE ON THE LIPS OF CEO’S & ENTREPRENEURS AT THE LEAP AFRICA FORUM

SPECIAL FEATURE : CORPORATE CULTURE ON THE LIPS OF CEO’S & ENTREPRENEURS AT THE LEAP AFRICA FORUM

The eighth CEO’s forum organised by Leadership, Effectiveness, Accountability and Professionalism (LEAP) Africa engaged chief executive officers and entrepreneurs on the impact of corporate culture as a tool that supports organisation in achieving its long-term goals.

The CEO’s forum and book launch held in Lagos, had the theme: Make or Break Your Company’s Future: Corporate Culture. Stressing the significant influence of leadership on culture, the forum exposed entrepreneurs to the dynamics of leadership and how a company’s values are shaped by its founders or its management team.

The forum also availed top CEOs and entrepreneurs a platform to discuss corporate culture from different perspectives including strategy, human resource (HR) management, leadership and business growth.
Yemisi Ayeni, LEAP’s board chair, and managing director, Shell Nigeria Pension Fund, in her opening remark, said “the LEAP’s Business Leadership Programme has inspired, empowered and equipped about 4,500 entrepreneurs with the skills and tools for building sustainable businesses.” She saw the forum as a platform that would help influence the outlook of smaller businesses and assist in solving similar challenges faced by CEOs across sectors in Nigeria. This will help entrepreneurs and ceo’s alike to increase the operational performance , human capital capacity and the company’s value which are shaped by its founders or its management team.

In my submission the poor attitude of most companies towards its corporate culture in a bid to expand its scope and provide the necessary infrastructure for the smooth running of business, is the reason why companies are failing.

SIGNS THAT YOU ARE HIS BACK – UP LADY

SIGNS THAT YOU ARE HIS BACK – UP LADY
Ladies, at one point or another, we’ve all had that “back up guy” on deck in case we needed a quick date or some male company. You know the type: he’s more than a friend but nowhere near anyone we claim as our man. But have you ever wondered if you were someone else’s back up lady? In matters of the heart, lines can get blurred and many things can get lost in translation when you’re ignoring signs or being deceived, so here are some ways to tell if the guy you’re into is into you back, or if you’re simply his back up chick.

If he is not happy to introduce you in public: Some men will call you his “lady” in private, but never claim you in public. By this he never introduce you to friends or family, you both don’t need to have a social media presence in order to be official, but if he doesn’t want anyone to know you exist and says it’s because he’s “private” and doesn’t want anyone all up in his business, what he’s REALLY saying is “I want to keep my options open.” You’re not the one… just keep it moving cos you are in for the shock of your life.

When you notice this crack in your walls , determine to move ahead with life without including him in your future plans , bet you things will get better with time.

President Barack Obama, saluting Carole King's five decades as an award-winning singer-songwriter, said Wednesday that music often is a place where people seek comfort and inspiration during trying times.

Two days after much of Moore, Okla., was flattened by a powerful tornado that killed 24 people, Obama pledged anew that the nation will assist with the town's recovery and rebuilding for as long as it takes.

"Eventually, life will go on and new memories will be made. New laughter will come. New songs will be sung," he said during a tribute concert for King in the East Room of the White House.

"And that's often why we turn to music during trying times, for comfort and for inspiration, and sometimes just for a good diversion."

Calling her a "living legend," Obama presented King with this year's Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, an award given by the Library of Congress. She is the first woman so honored and joins a list of recipients that includes Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder and Paul Simon

BUSINESS ROUNDTABLE : IN SEARCH OF A NEW HELSMAN AT CBN?

IN SEARCH OF A NEW HELSMAN AT CBN? THE BATTLE IS ON
Array Of Likely Candidates

Going by the recent happenings in the financial sector , the CBN , the chief regulator of this sector is gradually gearing up for the winding up of the tenure of the sitting governor, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi and the emergence of a new helmsman.
Definitely, there are financial and economic experts that meet these criteria, inside and outside the apex bank. Thus another issue that should be considered is whether the next governor should be an outsider or an insider.

Should the government decide to choose an outsider; there is an array of bank chief executives and top economist to choose from. These include, Mr, Bisi Onasanya, MD/CEO of First Bank, Mr. Segun Agbaje, MD/CEO of Guaranty Trust Bank, Dr Alex Otti, MD/CEO of Diamond Bank Plc and Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhoude, MD/CEO of Acess Bank. Among them,  will be the  supposed anointed  and widely speculated would be appointed candidate which is the Access Bank CEO.

Should the government decide to choose an insider from the board of the apex bank; the likes of Mr. Tunde Lemo, former chief executive officer of Wema Bank, who was appointed in 2004 would come to mind. Another likely candidate is Dr (Mrs.) Sarah Alade, the second female deputy governor of the CBN. Time will tell as events continue to unfold on the likely candidate which will be appointed by the President.
